Adding a Bike Rack to Your RV
If you have an SUV as a tow vehicle or tow a 5th wheel, you're probably looking for an easy way to haul your bikes. And you're in luck. There are many options for transporting bikes on 5th wheels, travel trailers, and tent trailers. There is the over-the-spare-tire rack, the ladder-mount, the traditional bumper/receiver mount, and the non-traditional a-frame tongue mount. All are good in their own right as long as you understand their limitations.

Thule Vs Yakima - Which Roof Rack Company Has the Best Reputation?
Asking which roof rack is better, Thule or Yakima, is like asking which of the top two teams in the NCAA tournament is the best. While they each have their unique strengths, they're also both at the top of their game.

The same is true of Thule and Yakima. Overall, Thule racks have a reputation for quality and durability. Similarly, Yakima racks are renowned for their strength. Though at first glance they may seem identical, each manufacturer offers a few unique differences within their products that may make a huge difference to you depending on how you plan on using your rack. Here are the most important things to consider when purchasing one.
Thule
Thule Vs Yakima - Which Roof Rack Company Has the Best Reputation?
A roof rack provides convenience and safety, allowing you to safely and easily transport your recreational gear to and from your destination while leaving extra leg room in the cab. High-quality roof racks, the perfect perches for mounting a Thule roof box or Yakima cargo carrier, are typically forged from steel tubing and capable of holding up to 300 lbs of evenly distributed weight. And, they're custom designed to work with your particular roof, so there's no drilling, no welding and no hair pulling required. Roof racks and their companion cargo carriers come complete with all the necessary hardware for a quick and easy installation. Plus, they're finished in a tough powder coating that resists corrosion, providing a long life of reliable wear.
Thule Vs Yakima - Which Roof Rack Company Has the Best Reputation?
Many rooftop carriers, like the Thule roof box, feature a snap-on mounting system that often works with your factory-installed roof rack, providing quick installation and simple removal for convenient storage between trips. Constructed from all-weather ABS, rooftop carriers come in a dizzying array of sizes and provide serious protection against sticky-fingered thieves. Unlike a standard roof rack, rooftop carriers allow you to lock your belongings when you stop to stretch your legs or head out on the trail, and a lock puts a serious cram on a crook's plans to yank your gear.
Here's where you'll find one difference between the two manufacturers. Aside from their sturdy construction, Yakima cargo carriers - like the Yakima SkyBox cargo carrier - provide an additional level of convenience. Featuring spring-loaded hinges, you can open the SkyBox from either side with just one hand. Plus, the cast-metal super latch automatically ensures a snug seal with a built-in lock that helps stop swindlers dead in their swindling tracks.
Unlike a rear-mounted rack, which often connects to your trailer hitch, roof racks (like the Thule bike rack, Yakima bike rack, Thule ski rack or Yakima ski rack) store bikes, boards, skis and all of your other gear up and out of the way without blocking your vision or obstructing access to the rear of your vehicle.

The mission was of a classified nature and was principally a military exercise with military personnel. However, it also involved scientific organizations comprising the US National IGY Committee and the respected National Program which was more immediately concerned with the mapping of Antarctica to record perspective US territorial claims. The original code name apportioned by the Navy to the Antarctic mission was Project Longhaul, expressive of the lengthy logistics channel amongst the United States and Antarctica although which was subsequently altered to the now recognized codename of Operation Highjump.
Thule
Operation Highjump - Longhaul Nazi UFO's in Antarctica
The mission objectives were for the dozen ships and several thousand men to navigate their way to the Antarctic edge to train workers and trial materials in the frozen regions and also to reinforce and develop American jurisdiction over the greatest workable region of the Antarctic continent. Furthermore, they were to determine the feasibleness of setting up and supplying bases in the Antarctic and to explore potential base sites coupled with a need to advance methods for founding and looking after air bases on the ice.
Operation Highjump - Longhaul Nazi UFO's in Antarctica
In spite of the fact that not expressly declared in the August 26, 1946 commands, a principal purpose of the project was the aerial mapping of as much of Antarctica as was possible, especially along the coastline. Conspiracy theorists specializing in supposed Aryan or Nazi occupations in Antarctica have extensively contemplated about this mission. Rumours started to spread that even though Germany had been overthrown, an assortment of military personnel and scientists had escaped the native land as Allied troops passed across mainland Europe and instituted themselves at a base on Antarctica from where they continued to build progressive aircraft founded upon alleged extraterrestrial or alien technologies. This base was apparently positioned in Neuschwabenland, a region of Antarctica which Germany investigated, and claimed, ahead of the outbreak of WWII.
As inconceivable as it may appear, there is substantial supporting evidence for these claims about a German base in Antarctica. On the very eve of WWII, the Germans themselves had entered part of Antarctica and claimed it for the 3rd Reich. Historical events also provide us with further suggestions as to a German-Antarctica association, for it documents that Hans-Ulrich Rudel of the German Luftwaffe was being prepared by Hitler to be his heir apparent. It is recognized that Rudel made numerous trips to Tierra del Fuego at the edge of South America closest to Antarctica.
In reality, Germany had completed a extremely exhaustive study of Antarctic and were believed to have built a small secret base there prior to the War. The truth is that there was an abundance of evidence, at the time, to point to that as late as 1947, portions of the Kriegsmarine, or German Navy, were very much functioning in the South Atlantic, operating either out of South America, or some base previously unrecorded in the Antarctic. One piece of evidence identified was of a German U-boat halting an Icelandic whaler titled 'Juliana' in Antarctic waters, and demanding that its captain, known as Hekla, trade the U-boat crew provisions from her available stores.
Some theorists believe that the Germans were, in fact, developing UFO technology in underground ice caverns of which there is information to suggest that this may not actually be too much a leap of faith. One of a quantity of documented accounts of sightings of unidentified flying objects over Antarctica was by Rubens Junqueira Villela, a meteorologist whom was the principal Brazilian scientist to take part in an voyage to the South Polar area, and at the present time, a veteran of 11 expeditions to Antarctica. Whilst on board the US Navy iceboat Glacier, which had set sail commencing from New Zealand towards the end of January 1961, Villella states that he observed a UFO occurrence in the skies over Antarctica which he instantly noted in his journal, even details including the sentiments felt by all those involved.
It is no secret that the German Nazi movement held technology progressive enough to create a craft resembling a UFO in shape and size, there are many recorded accounts of sightings and pictures of these German UFO's. Even though, to say they held the agility and speed of a true UFO would be deceptive given, they could not remain airborne for any prolonged period and were known for their unpredictability in terms of navigation and general handling.
Operation Highjump has turned out to be a hot topic amid UFO conspiracy theorists over recent years, who claim it was a secret US military campaign to defeat and destroy supposed secret Nazi facilities in Antarctica and seize the German Vril flying discs, and the Thule mercury propelled spacecraft. An obscure Hitlerist narrative tells that Adolf Hitler did not commit suicide in 1945, but however, escaped to Argentina, and then onto an SS base beneath the ice in New Swabia during the early fifties where he restarted his career as a painter. According to this description, Operation Highjump, the greatest journey undertaken to the Antarctic, is claimed to have been dispatched to obliterate the Nazi occupancy there.
The finest accomplishment however of Operation Highjump was its procurement of roughly 70,000 aerial photos of the coastline of Antarctica and chosen inshore regions. Initially prepared for an 8 month undertaking Operation Highjump abruptly returned to the United States just 16 weeks after exploring Antarctica, with no rationale ever provided for the hasty return. While there is, yet, no definitive proof of a German UFO base on Antarctica, It is beyond doubt that something extremely strange was occurring on, or nearby, the ice covered continent.

Many stories abound on whether or not it is even safe to install a bike rack on a towable RV. Some say the bumper-mounted racks will bounce too much, break the welds on the bumper, and send the bikes flying in to traffic behind you. Others will simply say that they have never had any problems for years.
Thule
Adding a Bike Rack to Your RV
If you're going to use the bumper-mounted rack, the trick is to ensure that the square tube bumper is of sufficient thickness and is welded correctly to the frame of the RV. Many bumpers are very thin and are poorly welded. This is fine for its intended purpose of sewer hose storage but not necessarily for a bike rack. A rack with more than two bikes on it can create a lot of twisting leverage on the bumper, fatiguing the welds over time, eventually resulting in weld failure. If in doubt, have a professional welder beef up the welds and reinforce the bumper. This holds true with the "over-the-spare-tire" bike rack as well since the bumper is probably not designed to handle more than the spare tire weight.
Adding a Bike Rack to Your RV
The ladder mount is an easy way to transport a few lightweight bikes. Most ladders are rated for upwards of 250 pounds, which can accommodate most humans and pretty much any two bikes, provided they are secured where they cannot bounce. Like the bumper/receiver mount rack, it's the bouncing that can cause ladder detachment and/or structure failure.
For travel trailers, a really great way to mount a bike rack is on the tongue. There are purpose-built racks that mount to each side of the a-frame and place the bike carrier above the propane tanks. They are quite solid and take the worry out of transporting your bikes since you can easily keep an eye on them from the rear view mirror. The only downside is that the bikes are a little harder to secure on the rack since the rack sits up fairly high. You might need a hand hefting them up there.
Tent trailers provide an even more secure way to transport bikes. Rack mounts made for cars can be bolted to the roof of the tent trailer and up to four bikes can be hauled this way. Since the racks are built for total mounting security, this is the ultimate way for tent trailer owners to carry their bikes.
Tip: Transporting your bikes on your RV can subject them to road grime and bug splats. Get yourself some bike covers. There are general purpose covers and custom fit types and they will do wonders for keeping the gunk off your bikes.

You have two main options if you want to get a job on an offshore drilling rig, the most common approach people think of is to get on board as part of a drilling crew. If you have drilling experience you can start as a pumpman or derrickhand. If you don't have any prior experience like most other industries you will have to learn the skills and prove yourself.
Thule
Offshore Oil Rig Jobs - Do You Need Experience?
The best place to start without experience is to get a roustabout or roughneck position, which is basically a general laborer before you work your way up to Driller which is 2nd in charge from the rig manager. Even though roustabouts are only general laborers you still earn around US,000 per year for about 6 months work.
Offshore Oil Rig Jobs - Do You Need Experience?
As a roustabout or roughneck unlike a normal laborer, who never gets the chance to move up to manager position, a roughneck with the proper attitude, has a reasonable chance to become a manager on an oil rig. However, first you will have to work your way through derrickhand and driller.
Drilling jobs are not the only way to a lucrative career on an oil rig, if you have a electrical or mechanical trade you can get a job in the motor room or in the electrical department. Chefs are always needed as well along with a medic. Despite the modern technology an oil rig is a hazardous place and accidents can occur and a medic is required on board.
When looking for employers many people only think about the big players like Esso, Shell, BP, etc however what a lot of people don't realize it that these companies rarely do their own drilling these days. The big companies usually contract out to smaller players like Diamond Offshore (Houston, USA), Frigstad Offshore (Singapore), Offrig Drilling ASA, Songa Offshore and Thule Drilling ASA, Dolphin Drilling (Tananger, Norway) or Scorpion Offshore just to name a few.
The offshore oil industry is a great place to get a lucrative career and you don't need drilling experience to get started. The big companies are not your only option and with the right attitude and the will to do some hard work you can you can get in as part of the drill crew, or as a tradesman.
To get the latest information and the best help to get you employed on an offshore oil rig.

If you've got this problem or fear it might happen, try buying alternator accessories, battery accessories, battery chargers, chassis wiring or jump start systems. If the problem is on the exhaust end, you might need catalytic converters, exhaust systems, exhaust tips and extensions, headers or mufflers.
To do all this work yourself, you'll need some tools and equipment. Useful items include tire pressure gauges, car care products, computer software, creepers and seats, diagnostic equipment, engine hoists and stands, garage and parking accessories, jacks, stands, ramps, paint, sanding materials and abrasives.
